Mäd Love: Art of Balance

Welcome back and happy Sunday!

Today’s blog is solely dedicated to all of the Fan Art Contestants that participated in contributing to my social media platforms and new website artwork gallery.

Thank you all for submitting your beautiful artwork! I loved seeing your kind messages that you sent along with your submissions. And I am blown away by the different mediums that you used. I love simple pencil sketches as much as sophisticated graphic art designs… but I have to admit that I have a special place in my heart for oil paintings. I painted as a child and really enjoyed creating landscapes with oil on canvas. I actually even sold a few paintings! …Okay fine, I admit it, they were bought by my parent’s friends. But I can look back now and appreciate the kind gestures they made to inspire a young creative mind to keep making original art. I feel it has been a huge part of my career. The encouragement and support that my family and friends showed me in those younger years built a confident base for me.

In the spirit of paying that forward, I love supporting other artists and seeing what inspires them.

**And just a side note, some of you have apologized for “not being good”. Stop that. All creativity is good! Art is subjective. That’s what I love about it. Something can move me to tears at the same moment that the person next to me just doesn’t “get it”.

Keep yourself open to channel inspiration. That’s one of the things that David Lynch taught me at an early age that has really stuck with me. I was bombarded at the beginning of my career by interviewers wanting me to somehow explain why David Lynch was so “weird” and expect me to give them some insight into his process. Well, this led my innocent self to muster up the guts to eventually ask him during one of our visits, what inspires him. He very simply, calmly and confidently answered, “Madgekin, I don’t always know where it comes from. Or even what it means sometimes. I’m just a conduit.” DING! That’s when my lightbulb went off. And from that moment forward I was so open and relaxed when it came to the creativity around me. You aren’t supposed to understand art. It’s meant to be felt. It should move you. Maybe you want to dance to that song. Or shed a tear when looking at that painting. Or be inspired to follow a dream after seeing that film. Or maybe you can just laugh at your f****d-up family when you relate to that tv show…

I’d love to hear all of your artistic inspirations. Everyone is an artist. It’s in there! Dance. Music. Painting. Drawing. Sketching. Acting. Debating. Writing. Decorating. Styling. Cooking. Gardening… What is your ART OF BALANCE?

Please share and blog here…

XOXO - Mäds
